Aims & Constitution

Every organisation needs a set of objectives to work towards and a set of rules to work by. These are ours:
The name of the organisation shall now and forever be referred to as:
“NYC” - Newport Youth Council

1. Mission Statement

Newport Youth Council is established to work towards:

  • Representing the views and rights of young people and improving young people’s services.
  • Giving young people a voice in order to maintain and improve facilities and social situations for young people.
  • Helping young people to tackle issues that affect them.

2. Objectives

To improve consultation between policy makers, young people services youth organisations and youth agencies, schools and young people themselves. i.e. Young peoples partnership, Newport City Council and Decision makers.

  • To raise the profile of young people within Newport by promoting a positive image of young people.
  • To encourage the active participation of young people as individuals and as community member.
  • To promote and encourage equality of opportunity for all young people regardless of background and circumstance. i.e. age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, religion, disability.
