With internet and television clogging up children’s lives, many parents are understandably concerned that their children do not seem to want to spend enough time reading books.
If you are looking for a wholesome reading experience for your children where they get to spend their time enjoying books, you might want to enroll them with Chatterbooks; a Newport library group that caters to children between the ages of 7 to 11. Chatterbooks helps parents and families introduce children to the vibrant and interesting world of stories, pictures and information.
Chatterbooks is a nationwide initiative launched by the Reading Agency that specializes in connecting young children using the concept of reading groups. They have an impressive stock of personalized books for children which succeed in getting young children to enjoy their foray into the exciting world of story books. Besides the thrill of getting introduced to good books and authors, children also get the opportunity to make new friends and develop self-confidence.
Chatterbooks are committed to their mission of partnering with schools and libraries in different cities in a bid to raise awareness about the joy of reading. Children who regularly attend Chatterbooks receive the additional benefit of improved educational achievement as well. Meeting new friends and discussing their favourite books and authors also promotes a sense of well-being in a social environment.
Chatterbooks reading groups are established at libraries or schools. The reading group is free of charge and members can sign up for their online letter that provides them with practical and useful information that helps parents get their children excited about books. Their online correspondence also covers special offers, promotions and discounted deals on children’s books offered to members of Chatterbooks reading groups in Newport.
Children can attend the Chatterbooks Club meetings at Newport Central Library that are held once every two weeks. The Chatterbooks Club holds its book discussions on Saturdays from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The meetings are fun-filled and enjoyable with story-telling, reading, guest speakers and even prizes for literary events. Children from ages 4 to 11 are invited to attend these discussions and games.
Chatterbooks also holds meetings every two weeks on Wednesdays from 4 pm to 5 pm at Carnegie.
Apart from being a center for Chatterbooks, the Newport Central library is also a venue for other literary activities for children.
